205. Cooper Shop

You are on the north side of the street facing the Wooden Building. Current Operation of the building: The Cooper Shop Museum


Historic Significance: The Cooper Shop is where all the tubs, barrels, and wagon wheels of the village were made. This is the only surviving intact Cooper Shop in the Amana Colonies. It was part of Middle Amana’s shop street where all of the trades were located. It was an important skill and a cooper was one of the first tradesmen to be sent to a new village.
